A wide range of new products come to market every day from simple passive to active discrete, power transmission systems to integrated circuits and assemblies. The rapid growth of the electronics industry has spurred dramatic changes in the electronic parts, which comprise the products and systems that the public buys. These new products need to be measured and verified before buying otherwise, there will be a significant supply chain threat as it creates avenues for black market and counterfeit components which reduces the quality of the product and often puts the end user in danger. As components become obsolete, it is necessary to redesign the product, and update the bill-of-materials (BOM) to maintain production and extend support time impacting productivity, performance, reliability, and price.
